Emblem of the Institution

The emblem consists of Lotus, Book, Mother and Child, Sword and Dhal.

• Lotus : Symbol of Indian cultural heritage. Lotus has various petals but the root is one. It symbolizes the enriched beauty of India.
• Book : Symbol of knowledge. Education provided in each branch of institution.
• Mother and Child : Institution is like our mother, who gives us education, as mother gives to her child. This mother leading her child towards the institution to enlight the knowledge.
• Sword and Dhal : To suggest the heroic heritage of the institution related to the Princess Indumatidevi Ranisaheb. It keeps everyone in touch of Rajashri Shahu Maharaj, King of Kolhapur Sansthan.

• Lamp : Lighted lamp which indicates to the light of knowledge, spread over to destroy the darkness. Everyone in this college takes hard efforts to spread over the light of knowledge.

Maharani Shantadevi Gaikwad Grihashastra Shikshan Sanstha is a voluntary organization. The organization is registered with charitable commissioner’s office at Kolhapur in the state of Maharashtra, with registration No. as KE-102 dt. 28/02/1955. It is also registered with Income-Tax department u/s 12A.

The organization was established during the year 1955 in the city of Kolhapur, in the state of Maharashtra in the memory of Maharani Shantadevi Gaikwad, belonging to the Gaikwad empire of Baroda. She always advocated education for women & girls. She firmly believed that if the independent India is to be developed in all the spheres of life then first & foremost priority must be given to education. She was of the view that there is one common factor in case of developed world, that their major part of population is educated. Hence, due to her vision & her patronage to the organisation, the institution was named after her.

The main objects for the organization are to impart vocational, practical & all types of education to women & girls, to promote cultural & sports education amongst women & girls. To improve living standards of women in rural & urban area of the country & to take all the actions for their overall development.

ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANISATION :
Hence, with the noble objective of imparting the formal & vocational education the organization started it’s activities by establishing an institution in the name & style of Audyogik Kalabhavan in the city of Kolhapur, which is registered with “Technical Education Board of Maharashtra” in the state of Maharashtra during the year 1962.
